Filipina wins Miss Earth 2014

After the non-placement of the Philippines in the recently concluded Miss International 2014 pageant in Tokyo, Japan, compatriot Jaime Herrel came in revenge snagging the coveted Miss Earth title last night held at The UP Theater Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.

The 19 year-old- lass from Cebu outdid other 83 delegates from around the globe. Herrel was born in California but raised in Placer, Masbate. She won several titles prior ( Sinulog Festival Queen 2013 where she represented Tribu Himag-Ulaw of Placer, Masbate, Reyna ng Aliwan 2013 and Miss Tourism Ambassador of the Philippines 2013 ).

Elemental queens were, Andrea Neu from USA Miss Earth Air, Maria Alexandra Rodriguez from Venezuela Miss Earth Fire and Anastasia Trusova Miss Earth Water from Russia. 

Jaime Herrel is the second Miss Earth title holder from the Philippines following Karla Henry the first Asian and a fellow Cebuana who was crowned Miss Earth 2008. 

Eighty-four contestants were narrow down to 16 after the production number;Tahiti, Russia, Korea, Colombia, Scotland, Mongolia, Zambia, Brazil, Slovak Republic, Venezuela, Thailand, USA, Egypt, Philippines, Mexico and Spain. 

And 16 lovely ladies diminished into final 8; Brazil, Mongolia, Slovak Republic, Venezuela, USA, Philippines, Russia and Spain where they were given a chance to answer the question given to them by the respective jurors. 

Miss Earth pageant which celebrated its 14th years of existence is based in the Philippines and organized by Carousel Production.

If it's a battle of wit and credentials, Jerelleen Rodriguez will easily snatch the main crown or any of the titles.

She will surely leave you at awe with what she has to offer. This lass from Nasugbu, Batangas is a Cum laude graduate with a degree in BS Business Administration and Accountancy from the UP Diliman and a Certified Public Accountant who placed sixth in the October 2013 CPA board licensure examination. She is also a Professor at the University of the Philippines - Diliman for the Department of Accounting and Finance while studying law at the UP College of Law.



Aside from all of these, she is also a member of the National Union of People’s Lawyers, a Chief Finance Officer, MGC Holdings, Inc., an angel investment hub and an education advocate.


Aren't these enough for her to win any of the crowns?

She only has not the gift of gab and wit but of beauty as well.

Miss Venezuela Pageant Suspended Amid Prostitution and Corruption Scandal

The organization behind Miss Venezuela’s iconic beauty pageant is under investigation for possible misconduct of its contestants following claims of prostitution and corruption throughout the organization.
Former Miss Venezuela contestants, posted on social media insinuating other contestants had romantic relationships with corrupt businessmen and officials.
"Given the events recently described on social media ... a decision has been made to begin an internal review to determine if anyone linked (to the pageant), during the course of their involvement, violated the values and ethics of the contest," the Miss Venezuela Organization said in a statement.
Miss Venezuela is owned by the wealthy Venezuelan Cisneros family. Cisneros Group also owns Venezuela’s top-rated television channel Venevision the biggest Spanish-language channel in the U.S. Among future measures, the organization will create a new "Beauty Committee" and carry out a full pageant reorganization, the …
