Valerie Hernandez crowned Miss International 2014

Puerto Rican beauty queen Valerie Hernandez crowned Miss International 2014.

The 21 year-old- student and model from Carolina, Puerto Ricowon the international title last night at the 54th annual event held at The Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan. Dressed in an embellished gown, Hernandez sobbed with tears of joy as she was officially crowned by Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago of the Philippines. 

"As Miss International I want to send a message of love, peace and unity". She thinks that it's not all about the crown, it's not just the title but the responsibilities. Valeries, celebrated her win with Zuleika Suarez of Colombia and Polly Punika of Thailand, 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively. Victoria Tooby of United Kingdom and Milla Romppanen of Finaland were the third and 4th runners-up. Hernandez was also crowned before as Miss Teen International 2012 and during Miss International Puerto Rico she finished 1st runner-up to Patricia Quinones which she assumed the title when Quinones resigned to some personal reason. Its Puerto Rico's 2nd Miss International title, the last time Puerto Rico had the crown was way back in 1987 won by Laurie Rivera.

If it's a battle of wit and credentials, Jerelleen Rodriguez will easily snatch the main crown or any of the titles.

She will surely leave you at awe with what she has to offer. This lass from Nasugbu, Batangas is a Cum laude graduate with a degree in BS Business Administration and Accountancy from the UP Diliman and a Certified Public Accountant who placed sixth in the October 2013 CPA board licensure examination. She is also a Professor at the University of the Philippines - Diliman for the Department of Accounting and Finance while studying law at the UP College of Law.

Aside from all of these, she is also a member of the National Union of People’s Lawyers, a Chief Finance Officer, MGC Holdings, Inc., an angel investment hub and an education advocate.

Miss Venezuela Pageant Suspended Amid Prostitution and Corruption Scandal

The organization behind Miss Venezuela’s iconic beauty pageant is under investigation for possible misconduct of its contestants following claims of prostitution and corruption throughout the organization.
Former Miss Venezuela contestants, posted on social media insinuating other contestants had romantic relationships with corrupt businessmen and officials.
"Given the events recently described on social media ... a decision has been made to begin an internal review to determine if anyone linked (to the pageant), during the course of their involvement, violated the values and ethics of the contest," the Miss Venezuela Organization said in a statement.
Miss Venezuela is owned by the wealthy Venezuelan Cisneros family.
