A law student aims to win the Miss Universe crown

Winning the crown on June 11, 2016, gave her the rights to represent Canada at the 65th Miss Universe pageant, which will be held in Manila, Philippines on January 30, 2016. 

 23-year-old, Siera Bearchell, a law student, entrepreneur, runner, golfer, and avid photographer is currently in her sophomore year at the University of Saskatchewan.

Her passion in helping others and community involvement are the reasons why she pursue a degree in law. She wanted to help the most vulnerable communities throughout the globe.

Siera, has worked with the Free The Children, the Canadian Red Cross and SOS Children’s Villages charities and organizations. And because of her humanitarian causes, she was awarded as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Peter Mansbridge Youth Leadership Award, the Deloitte Inspiration Award, and the Red Cross Young Humanitarian Award.

Siera is no longer a novice in the world of pageantry, she since represented Canada in 2009 at the Miss Teen World pageant where she finished second runner-up and first runner-up in the Miss Supranational 2015 pageant.

Now she aims to bring back the glory days of Canada at the Miss Universe pageant and make her country proud once again by winning the Miss Universe crown.

Road To Miss Universe 2016: Meet the contestants


Lindita Idrizi, Miss Universe Albania

Competing came easy for Lindita Idrizi as she has competed and won the three titles of Miss Elbasan, Miss Europe Continental and Miss Universe Albania. Not only does she enjoy her time in the spotlight, but she also likes taking time out for herself to play the flute. Idrizi's main priority is finishing up her degree at AAB College, Pristina, Kosovo where she studies Social Science. Idrizi likes to pass the message on to ‘live in the moment’ and to take in every opportunity given. Idrizi is looking forward to meeting the women from all over the world, and hopes to take home her 4th crown this January.


Luisa Batista, Miss Universe Bahamas

Luisa Batista is a native of Kuando Kubango currently attending UPRA where she studies Psychology. On top of school, she volunteered for the National Institute of the Fight Against Cancer. In Batista’s spare time, you can catch her reading, going to the movies, dancing, or playing handball. If she were to become Miss Universe, she would love to continue to help raise awareness for Cancer.


Estefania Bernal, Miss Universe Argentina

Estefania Bernal best describes herself as optimistic, persevering and cheerful. She is currently a professional publicity model while studying Media Communication in hopes of one day becoming a television producer. When she isn’t modeling or studying, Bernal can be seen dancing or playing sports. If crowned, Bernal hopes to advocate for women’s rights and also hopes to help those with lower resources.


Charlene Leslie, Miss Universe Aruba

Charlene Leslie is a 24 year old student who has her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and is pursuing her Master's Degree in Nutritional Epidemiology and Public Health. Simultaneously, she decided to start her own practice where she helps clients achieve their nutritional goals by providing a more personal approach to each person. As a child, Leslie won many medals in Track & Field and as she grew older she was scouted for modeling. With an active and healthy lifestyle, Leslie enjoys running and finding recipes she can make healthier. If she is crowned the next Miss Universe, Leslie would like to use her platform to educate and lower the prevalence of obesity and lifestyle diseases worldwide. 


Caris Tiivel, Miss Universe Australia

Caris Tiivel hails from the Western Australian city, Perth. Caris’ talent and passions lie in the arts, where she has been recognized for over five years. Whether she is creating something on canvas or making something to model down a runway, she is always inventing new ways to express herself. Caris works closely with children who are in need through fundraising, functions, and mentorship programming. By competing at Miss Universe, she wants the world to know what and who she stands for.


Dajana Dzinic, Miss Universe Austria

Dajana Dzinic is an Austrian student studying legal rights and jurisprudence in her fourth year of education at the Johannes Keppler University in Linz. Dajana proactively works on humanitarian projects such as helping refugees and animals. In her down time, Dajana likes to ski, hike, swim, and draw. As a Miss Universe contestant, she plans to take the stage to highlight the attributes of the modern women, by showing that she is career oriented, independent, and educated. 

India's Srinidhi Shetty crowned Miss Supranational 2016

Srinidhi Shetty, 24, was crowned Miss Supranational 2016. The live televised event was held in Krynica Zdrój on December 2nd. This is India´s second victory in the pageant, since 2014.

Venezuela´s Valeria Vespoli placed 2nd, followed by Suriname´s Jaleesa Pigot in 3rd place. Ornella Gunesekere of Sri Lanka came next in the 4th position and Hungary´s Korinna Kocsis was 5th.

Among the Top 10 semi-finalists were the representatives of Belarus, Indonesia, Myanmar, Poland and Slovakia.

Completing the Top 25 quarter-finalists were: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Mauritius, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Ukraine and Vietnam.

Halima Aden makes history, wears burkini and hijab duing the Miss Minnesota pageant

Halima Aden makes history as the first woman to compete wearing a burkini during the Miss Minnesota pageant.

19-year-old Halima Aden made history as the first ever woman to compete in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant wearing a hijab, also the first ever to wear a burkini during the swimsuit competition of the said pageant.

Aden, a Somali-American wears hijab for the entire competition, she pairs it with a full-body swimsuit and a covered-up evening dress. She is one of the 45 contestants in the pageant that continues Sunday, is competing to represent Minnesota in the Miss USA pageant in 2017.

“A lot of people will look at you and will fail to see your beauty because you’re covered up and they’re not used to it. So growing up, I just had to work on my people skills and give people a chance to really know me besides the clothing," she said. “Be who you are. It’s easy to feel like you have to blend in, but it takes courage to live your life with conviction and embrace the person that you are." Aden, added.

PH bet fails to win a back-to-back Miss Globe crown, adjudged third runner-up

Nichole Manalo, Bb. Pilipinas Globe went on to compete for a back-to-back victory in Tirana, Albania on November 25, 2016 but she failed to make it. 

Manalo, a huge favorite to win the Miss Globe 2016 crown was adjudged as 3rd runner-up on an informal announcement via Facebook live made by the national director of Miss Globe Canada who was present during the finals night.

She explained that the hosts failed to announce the third and fourth runners-up during the show, and that it was an honest mistake.

Aside from winning third runner-up, Manalo was also awarded the Dream Girl of the World.

Nichole Manalo is the sister of Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2009 Bianca Manalo and Bb. Pilipinas World 2002 Katherine Ann Manalo.

Also, announced as fourth runner-up is Miss South Africa.

India's Dimple Patel wins Miss Globe 2016

Dimple Patel of India bested over 40 other candidates during the finals night of the Miss Globe 2016 pageant held in Tirana, Albania on November 25, 2016. Patel is the first woman from her country to win the Miss Globe crown. She was crowned by the outgoing Miss Globe 2015, Ann Lorraine Colis of the Philippines.

Colombia's Yenny Carillo and Albania's Kristina Skurra were named the first and second runners-up, respectively.

The candidates from, South Africa, Kosovo, Philippines, Russia, Poland, Estonia, China and Thailand completed the semi-finalists.

A secret beauty pageant for Transgender Women in Indonesia

Miss Transgender Indonesia 2016 pageant

Due to fear of violence a group of transgender women in Indonesia held a secret beauty paggeant inn Jakarta, Indonesia with only invited media personalities. Also, organizers asked the supporters not to share the images on social media during the pageant out of fear.

Contestants competed for a trophy and 10 million rupiah ($1000USD).

28-year-old Pie Nabh Tappii won the title of Miss Transgender Indonesia, defeating 18 other contestants to become number one.

Tappii was so happy for her win. “I am happy, but I want to cry as well … I didn’t expect this,” she said.

The pageant was kept under wraps as violence towards the LGBT community is on the rise in Indonesia.

19 year-old, Diana Croce and Miss Venezuela first runner-up 2016 is Venezuela's representative to Miss World 2016 pageant. Croce, a student of Liberal Studies at the Universidad Metropolitana de Caracas was born in Caracas, the country´s capital city. Croce was a huge favorite among fans but placed 2nd in Miss Venezuela 2016. She is now getting ready to compete in Miss World 2016, in Washington D.C., on December 18th.

In the last past weeks there was much speculation on who would represent the South American country in Miss World. It was even said that due to the political and economic crisis it faces today, there was a chance that Venezuela would not take part in Miss World at all, just like what happened in Mr World, earlier this year.

Now it can be told that Venezuela will be represent in the Miss World 2016 pageant.

Patrik Sjöö of Sweden wins Manhunt International 2016

After four years, Manhunt International, returned with a new winner.

Sweden´s Patrik Sjoo, 24 year-old and a model took the title.The new Manhunt International is a landscape assistant who hopes to be a life coach and motivational speaker. He succeeded June Macasaet Manhun International 2012 winner from the Philippines.

The Top 5 were Hong Kong, Ba Te Er (1st runner-up), England, Chris Bramell, also a finalist in Mr World 2016 (2nd runner-up), Angola, Mauricio Eusébio (3rd runner-up) and Brazil, Ramon Pissaia, 4th runner-up.

The Top 16 also had the representatives of Lebanon, Zawil Bilal, Guam, Jon Kanemoto, Venezuela, Francisco Gil Riera, Russia, Andrey Kharkovskiy, Dominican Republic, Digno Guerrero Chalas, China, Tian Ze Yu, Spain, Francisco Cortes. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Duyen wins Miss Miss Global Beauty Queen 2016

23-year-old Nguyen Thi Ngoc Duyen, was crowned Miss Global Beauty Queen 2016 which took place in South Korea on Monday, October 24, 2016.

The first runner-up was Romanian beauty Elisabetha-Eliza Ancau. Second runner-up was 21-year-old Elize Joanne de Jong from the Netherlands and third runner-up was 24-year-old Isabele Pandini from Brazil.

 She shared that when she was named as Miss Global Beauty Queen she was proud. 

“When my name was called as the winner, I felt so proud as the name of our country was spoken. It’s proved that my effort was not useless. moreover, this is not my victory, it’s a victory for Vietnam, and for people who have loved and supported me.” 

Ecuador's Katherine Espin wins Miss Earth 2016 crown

Miss Earth 2016 pageant was held tonight at the MOA Arena in Pasay City, more than 80 equally stunning earth warriors battled out for the crown but only one emerged victorious.

Ecuador's Katherine Espin was crowned Miss Earth 2016. Espin, a native of Quito, is a model and cosmetologist. This Ecuadorian beauty aims to implement environmental education in schools to promote a positive climate change to the future generations.

Colombia's Michelle Gomez won Miss Earth-Air; Venezuela's Stephanie De Zorzi took home the Miss Earth-Water; and Brail's Bruna Zanardo was awarded the Miss Earth-Fire.

Espin was crowned by the outgoing Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong.

Latin beauties dominated the Miss Earth 2016 pageant taking all the four spots.

Miss Earth aims to raise awareness about ecological conservation to directly benefit the economic development and to foster respect for different cultures and for human rights.

Miss Earth 2016 Final Power Rankings

The Miss Earth 2016 will be crowned tonight. More than 80 stunning beauties from around the world are ready to battle out for the crown and be an earth warrior. While most of the pageant observers are waiting for the finals coronation night, we have ranked 16 lucky ladies who we think have what it takes to make it as a semi finalists. For the past weeks we observed and noticed every girls in the competition, those who remained sophisticated and elegance despite their super busy schedules and activities.

So here's our list on who are the girls who shine all throughout the competition.

Venezuela's Stephanie De Zorzi has been a huge favorite since 2014. Had she competed that year, she could have easily pulled a back-to-back Miss Earth crown for Venezuela but it wasn't her fate to compete that year. When the news broke this year that she will be Venezuela's representative her charm still there and didn't fade. Well, she's making sure everything will be in her favor. But wait, Ecuador's Katherine Espin could be her threat. Since the arrival of the candidates, Katherine had given all her best to be noticed and recognized, her effort paved way and that made her an instant front-runner who could easily give Ecuador's second Miss Earth crown.

Placing 3rd is a pageant veteran. Corrin Stellakis of USA has previously competed in the Miss Teen USA 2014 pageant and Miss World America 2015 pageant, with her experience she could easily slay other candidates and be the Miss Earth 2016, however in the past days she seems to lack-off and started to fade yet we still believe that she will make it.

Itzel Paola Astudillo of Mexico. Itzel battled out with 30 other candidates during her national pageant. She is a student of Veterinary Medicine. She is an entrepreneur and professional in the networking industry and marketing.

Daughter of Filipino actor, Cloie Skarne representing Sweden started to shine after the press presentation. She bagged several medals and is making way to winning the crown for her country. Do you think she'll be triumphant?

Completing our magic circle of 8 are, Korea's Chae-Yeung Lee, Denmark's Klaudia Parsberg and England's Luissa Burton. These 3 ladies could easily snatch an elemental crown or even the Miss Earth 2016 crown.

Philippines' Kylie Verzosa crowned Miss International 2016

Philippines' bet Kylie Verzosa was crowned Miss International 2016 on Thursday in Tokyo, Japan.

In her speech before the awarding ceremony, Verzosa said,
"If I become Miss International 2016, I will devote myself to cultural understanding and international understanding because I believe that it is in developing in each of us sensitivity to other cultures that we expand our horizons, tolerate difference and appreciate diversity,"

Verzosa thanked her family and her fellow Filipinos for the support after she was crowned.

This is Philippines' 6th Miss International crown. The country last took home the title when Bea Rose Santiago won in in 2013.

Misses Asutralia, Indonesia, Nicaragua and USA were declared as the first, second, third and fourth runners-up, respectively.

While, the candidates from Finland, Mexico, Japan, El Salvador, Canada, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Russia, Thailand and Poland were the rest of the top 15 semi finalists.

Other contestants also received special awards: Nicaragua Miss National costume; Indonesia Best Dresser award; Moldova Miss Perfect Body; Miss International ASIA - Hong Kong; Miss International EUROPE - Netherlands; Miss International AMERICA - Ecuador; Miss International AFRICA - Sierra Leone and Miss International OCEANIA - Hawaii.

The 56th Miss International Beauty Pageant was held in Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Miss International 2016 Final Power Rankings

On October 27, 70 women will compete in the finale of the Miss International 2016 pageant. Contestants are expected to serve as "Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty", demonstrating not only their beauty, but also high morals. The ultimate goal of the Miss International pageant is to promote world peace, goodwill, and understanding. The 2016 Miss International Beauty Pageant took place in Tokyo on October 11, until the 27 where they experience Japanese hospitality with traditional activities like tea ceremony, tasting the traditional Japanese food and many others. These experiences will surely last for a life time.

Edymar Martínez from Venezuela will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Leading our list is Philippines' Kylie Verzosa, a professional model and pre-school teacher from the Philippines who graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in Business Management is doing all her best to win the sixth Miss International crown for the Philippines. Her performance and presence in the competition is undeniable and with that she might walk away with the crown, if luck will be on her side.

Coming next to Philippines is, Emilia Seppänen, the angelic blonde girl from Finland has a very huge chance of winning the crown. It can be noticed that Finland has really been successful in the Miss International pageant. That's why there's no doubt that she won't make it, but should she win, it's because of her own merits.

In third place is, Venezuela's Jessica Duarte who is a top favorite to win the crown, Jessica is aiming for a back-to-back win for her country. Her beauty is striking with so much sophistication. Will she make a history in the Miss International pageant?

Placing fourth is Indonesia's Felicia Hwang. This beautiful lady is really determined in giving Indonesia the Miss International crown. No one can just ignore Felicia's charm. After Ariska's who was crowned Miss Grand International 2016, do you think it's Felicia's time to shine?

Ariska Putri Pertiwi wins Miss Grand International 2016

Ariska Pertiwi bested over 70 other candidates on Tuesday night, October 25, 2016, Las Vegas time. She was alsso awarded the best in national costume award. She was crowned by the outgoing Miss Grand International 2016 Clair Parker from Australia. Last year's winner was the actual First Runner-up of last year's edition of Miss Grand International. The new winner is expected to travel around the world and serving as the new ambassadress of Miss Grand International 2016 until 2017.

Pertiwi made a historic remark, she was the first ever Miss Indonesia to win international crown.

The controversial final question and answer question was the main highlight of the pageant. "If given the chance to choose between the two to stop the war, will it be Donald Trump or Hilary Clinton". Puerto Rico, Thailand, and Indonesia chose Hilary Clinton to stop the war around the world by representing the power of women. While, the United States and the Philippines chose Donald Trump because they believe that using Trump's influence could bring hope to stop the war.

Pertiwi believes that Hilary Clinton and her could make a big impact to fight against war. With Hilary as the future commander-in-chief of the United States if she wins and Ariska as the ambassadress, they could significantly make a big difference to stop the war.

Philippines' Nicole Cordoves won the 1st runner-up, Thailand was the 2nd runner-up, Puerto Rico was the 3rd runner-up and USA was the4th runner-up.

Miss Grand International 2016 Ariska Pertiwi in her elegance, sophistication and winning form during the evening gown and swimsuit competition.

Miss Grand International 2016 is the 4th edition in the history of the pageant. It was held in Westgate International Theatre, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada State in the United States of America. The official presenter of the pageant was Brian J. White and the Broadcasting companies who covered the event internationally were Channel 7 and Direct Television networks. Facebook social media as well as the YouTube live-streamed the event through Miss Grand International official page and channels that were accessed by online viewers from around the world.

Miss Grand International 2016 Final Power Rankings

On the 25th of October, Claire Parker will crown her successor. Miss Grand International 2016, will be the 4th Miss Grand International pageant, which will be held at the Westgate International Theater, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Over 70 contestants from all over the world will vie for the crown.

Leading the pack is Thailand's Supaporn Malisorn, this 22 year-old, Business Administration student, is making sure everything will be in here favor. She does not let beauty alone work for her.  She caught every pageant fans and pundits with her elegance and charm. She is the face of the Miss Grand International 2016 competition.

The pageant ready and sophisticated Debora Medina surely attracted many of the pageant observers. No wonder, she is representing Venezuela. The first ever Miss Grand International for Venezuela is a no way out for sure should she make the first cut.

Philippines' Nicole Cordoves went down from being our top choice to 3rd place. We cannot deny that this lass has been doing well since her arrival in Las Vegas. Her fans are expecting that she'll do good comes final night. She is a good choice for the crown. Nicole previously work as a writer for a finance secretary of the Philippine government, this is her advantage.

Placing fourth is Indonesia's Ariska Pertiwi. She is the strongest winner of Puteri Indonesia, she should have been sent to a bigger international pageant. Ariska is also the face of the Miss Grand International 2016 pageant.

Priscilla Howard of Peru, a motivational speaker is also a good choice for the crown. She can also be a good speaker for the "STOP the WAR" campaign of Miss Grand International. She is a total package.

Penetrating on our top 6 is, Colombia's Juliana Herrera. This 22-year-old, with her unavoidably striking looks is ready for a tough job should the crown be put on her head.

Sandy Tabet wins Miss Lebanon 2016

22-year-old, Sandy Tabet defeated 13 contestants to be crowned Miss Lebanon 2016 Saturday night at Casino du Liban by former Miss Lebanon, Valerie Abou Chacra.

The judges were Lebanon’s famous personalities including media icon Marsail Ghanem, actress Hiba Tuwaiji and fashion designer Zuhair Murad, all of whom asked the final contestants a uniform question: What’s the first decision you would make if elected as president.

Tabet said she would get rid of Lebanon's trash issue, which she dubbed as a “black cloud” that would soon “go away.”

The country's waste-management system collapsed in July last year after the closure of the capital Beirut’s main landfill, and ever since the untreated garbage has piled up on the streetside, making it to the media headlines.

Tabet will compete in Miss World 2016, in Washington DC, USA, on December 18th.

Miss International 2016 Week 2 Power Rankings

In just a week Edymar Martinez will crown her successor as Miss International. The ladies have been enjoying Japan during the pre-pageant activities. This week, some of the front-runners went down and some girls went up. 

Leading this week's power rankings is Magdalena Bieńkowska of Poland. She's surprising everyone with her presence in the competition. Her lovely aura won't fail her comes final night.

Coming next to her is Indonesia's Felicia Hwang, she went down from being our number 1 to number 2. She is indeed doing everything for her country, it's a no wonder should she be crowned Miss International 2016.

From 8th place on our last rankings, Mexico's Geraldine Ponce went up to number 3. Will this head turner, and Nuestra Belleza Mexico 2016 finalist conquers Japan?

Kylie Verzosa of the Philippines also went up from being the number 4 to number 5. This Philippine doll is making sure everything is set in place. We cannot deny the fact that she's in it to win the 6th Miss International crown for the Philippines. Will the odds be in her favor?

Moldova's Alina Chirciu placed 5th from being not included on our previous rankings. Will this lovely model will surely shine bright?
