Miss Universe 2016 in Belize?

“Dear [Steve Harvey], we all make mistakes. You handled yours with class. Would you host our next [Costa Maya] pageant?” the BTB had tweeted on Monday evening, December 21. Steve Harvey liked the BTB’s tweet.

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) tweeted a public invitation to Harvey, suggesting that he should host the Costa Maya pageant, organized out of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize, this summer.

Recently, Harvey said on his morning show, aired live out of Cayman, that he is hosting the next Miss Universe pageant in Belize. The guest for the show was Monyque Brooks, Miss Cayman.

Harvey repeatedly said that he would be hosting the international pageant in Belize during his morning show.

In an online report dated February 15, 2016, The Cayman Reporter said that the Steve Harvey Show had been held live out of Cayman.

“He told Ms. Brooks he was looking forward to hosting the pageant in Belize and would see her there,” the report said.

In the Soundcloud recording of the show, which runs 7 minutes 23 seconds, Harvey mentions three times that Miss Universe will be held in Belize.

“I’m hosting the pageant next year and it’s going to be in Belize…” he said, 3 minutes and 30 seconds into the interview. At nearly 6 minutes, he was more specific that the pageant would be held in Belize this December.

“You will actually be, this year coming up, in December, in Belize, and I’ll be in Belize already,” Harvey said, explaining that he would be interacting with the delegates in the days leading up to the show.

“The Cayman Islands crew will be in Belize…” replied Brooks, who said that she had lost 70 pounds in 6 months to be pageant-ready.

After a very animated discussion with Brooks, Harvey ended the conversation telling Miss Cayman, again, that he will see her in Belize.

Despite his mistake last December, Miss Universe executives had said that they would have Harvey back on the show.

TPQ EXCLUSIVE: GETTING TO KNOW CELSO SALON JR., MISTER UNITED CONTINENTS PHILIPPINES - CAMIGUIN ISLAND

“I’d rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not”

"Back in College when I was still a Nursing student, I’ve engaged into community services. At first I thought, ah, this is just for fun and for our compliance. However, as time progresses I realized this is something crucial. What’s more interesting is that I even got a chance to study, plan and implement nursing education to a family and also to the community. A total awareness I say. It opened my eyes about what is a community in general.

If I win and be chosen as Mr United Continents Philippines 2016, I will take advantage of the opportunity to take part of one’s life and teach everyone, if not, influence them in addressing concerns in a community like environmental issues, family planning, malnutrition by using my knowledge that I acquired back in College which has proven to be more efficient based on Nursing independent interventions. And also I would like to make sure that I will have fun on this event, before, during and after the grand finals."

Tell us a little about yourself, your family background, education?

I am Celso P. Salon, Jr, 27 years of age. I was born on the 31st of August 1988. I am the 7th of the 8th child of Neolida and Celso, who's been married for almost 39 years. My mother is a government employee and will be running in the office as a councilor in 2016 elections. My father is a farmer and a driver as well. My siblings are (in particular order) Sharon, Mechelle, Azenith, Mitz, Maeam, Karl, Nove Kris.

I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Liceo de Cagayan University and in 2011 I took and passed the Nursing Licensure Examination.

My interest in modelling started back in my senior year in college, wherein I even went to a gym to make myself better. I got an official certificate in the year 2014 in Cebu city under Sir Dux Samolde of Limelight Model Management and even featured in one of the most influential national newspaper.

How did you become interested in pageants?

I got interested in pageants because of my Mom. She is one of the organizers back in our province and every time there's an event, she will let me take part of the program as an Usher or even an award presenter for almost 4 consecutive years.

How does it feel to represent the province of Camiguin in Mister United Continents Philippines 2016?

It is flattering to be honest. As far as I recall, no one represented our Province in a National Pageant. There are lots of beautiful women from our Island who joined pageants but they never presented our Island.

Give three adjectives that your friends would use to describe you.

INTROVERT. PEACEMAKER. TRUSTWORTHY.

Tell us about one life-changing experience in your life.

I have a lot of frustrations, like my height. Winning the title for the Metropolitan Fashion Group of the Philippines Cycle 2 last 2015 really changed my perspective about myself. It unbolted a lot of opportunities that enhanced and boost my confidence at some point. What a life changing experience indeed.

Name three things that you would never do.

1st. I won’t put God’s name in vain.
2nd. I would never disrespect my parents.
3rd. I would never do drugs

What do you like to do for fun?

Things to do for fun really depend on the season. When it comes to a rainy season? I loved to sleep all day and take a sip of chocolate drink. For sunny weather, well, I go to the beach and do some fun games. Play with the sand perhaps? Haha.

What would constitute a "perfect" evening for you?

Working out, take a shower right after, play online games like Clash of Clans, reading good articles online and take a moment with God before I sleep constitutes a perfect evening for me.

Tell us a little about the province of Camiguin. What makes your province different from the rest?

Barely 240 square kilometers in land area, Camiguin is the second smallest island of the Philippines in both area and population. It is just 23 kilometers long and just a bit more than 14 kilometers wide. Lovely little Camiguin is the island “born of fire.” What makes our province different to the other is that we have 7 both active and inactive volcanoes lies within the island. Amazing right?

How will you motivate others to practice sustainable living choices?

I will motivate others to practice sustainable living choices by following their heart on what they are passionate about because if they are passionate on one thing, it will reflect on someone’s aura and it will propagate and inspire others to be compassionate. By then, whatever they do, they can be happy and there’ll be no frustrations at all.

How would you describe your advocacy to the judges?

Advocacy is working to influence public policy in social, economic, political, and cultural spheres in order to bring about justice and positive change in human rights and environmental issues. With the help of the Local Government in Camiguin, we have agreed to choose environmental advocacy to show to the whole country what our island has to offer, especially when it comes to the ecotourism in our island. Environmental advocacy involves both protecting the public from environmental hazards and protecting the natural world, which Camiguin is currently at its best that we were even recognized as one of the finest and most beautiful island not only in our country but in the world.

Through my advocacy video, it will show how beautiful and almost perfect our Island is, when it comes to protecting the environment from the hazardous materials. Surely, it will influence others, or the neighbouring cities to follow what we have done like planting trees on some areas that needs more trees to prevent flooding and soil erosion. And I even took part of it since high school and now the trees have grown! Such an amazing and fulfilling experience!

Boxers or Briefs?

It depends. If I wanna feel sexy, I’d wear brief. If I wanna be comfortable in bed, I’d prefer boxer brief.

Blue or Pink?

When I was young, I always admire Blue Ranger in a television series Mighty Morphin and wanted to be one of them. Crazy childhood, eh? Haha. Aside from that, the color blue has something that’s too deep like sea water. It’s very meaningful and intriguing.

Piolo Pascual or Derek Ramsay?

Some of my friends mocked me as a young Derek. It flatters me to be honest but if I were to choose between him over Piolo? I choose the latter. Piolo has a lot to offer in one plate and he has done many things in the industry not only in showbusiness.

Anne Curtis or Angel Locsin?

Angel for me is a versatile actress. She is beautiful inside and out. She even reached out to the victims of the calamities previously without a camera. She’s a total package indeed.

Message to your supporters, friends and family?

Daghang salamat sa tanan ( Thanks a lot everyone )!

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain (Nirvana's Vocalist)

"I want to be the next Mister United Continents because I want to use this as platform to give me power so that I can help others and make good charities, I want to have fun!"

Tell us a little about yourself, your family background, education?

A simple and easy-go-lucky person with lots of dreams. I live alone and learn how to be independent since my parents are both working abroad. An incoming senior college student at Jose Rizal University taking up Banking and Finance.

How did you become interested in pageants?

I wasn't really interested in joining pageants before but I think God put me in this way or kind of competition, rather than being a good basketball player.

How does it feel to represent the province of Tarlac in Mister United Continents Philippines 2016?

I feel blessed! There's more good looking guy out there which has more potential than I am, yet I was still chosen to represent Tarlac.

Give three adjectives that your friends would use to describe you.

They told me I am, tall dark and handsome but I told them not to use handsome just friendly, since I'm a friendly guy.

Tell us about one life-changing experience in your life.

Joining pageants is a life changing experience in my life. Because of this, I learn how to show my full confidence on and off stage.

Name things that you would never do.

To disrespect my parents!

What do you like to do for fun?

Having good friends, friends that will not look on your life's status. I am a kind of person that if you're good to me, then I'll return it twice fold but if you're bad with me you have nothing to worry about, I'll still be good to you.

What would constitute a "perfect" evening for you?

My perfect evening? Joining my family or my future wife on a dinner, and pray with them before sleeping.

Tell us a little bit about the province of Tarlac.

As I know, Tarlac has its own specialty when it comes to foods specially that so called "kakanin". Another thing we are known for hospitality when visitors come and visit our place.

How would you describe your advocacy to the judges?

My chosen advocacy is about anti-bullying and discrimination in all means. I will describe to them the cause and effect of this, that harm people who have experienced bullying or discrimination, sometimes it leads to suicide. Others, doesn't want to go out anymore because they are afraid or scared to be bullied or discriminated which may lead to depression.

 Boxers or Briefs?

I'm more comfortable in boxers than briefs.

Blue or Pink?

Blue, I like dark colors than light.

Piolo Pascual or Derek Ramsay?

Piolo, I like the way he acts. He is also one of the great actors in the show business industry.

Anne Curtis or Angel Locsin?

Anne, I love her confidence, specially when she sings even though she's out of tune.

Message to your supporters, friends and family?

Thank you to all my friends, family, and especially to those who are there to support me win or lose. God bless everyone.

TPQ EXCLUSIVE: GETTING TO KNOW NEIL KERVIN REGIS, MISTER UNITED CONTINENTS PHILIPPINES - MALASIQUI, PANGASINAN

"In everything you do, put GOD first." - Proverb 3:6

"I want to be the next Mister United Continents Philippines 2016 because I know I can do it and I got what it takes to hold this title because I am confident and proud to represent our country."

Read: Mister United Continents final screening

Tell us a little about yourself, your family background, education?

I'm Neil Kervin Regis from the municipality of Malasiqui, Pangasinan, 23 years old. Fourth of seven siblings. I was raised by my loving mother and father, Erlinda and Arnold Regis. An incoming 4th year, taking up Bachelor of Science in Nursing but I stopped due to financial disability. But I still have plans of continuing my studies, hopefully next semester.

How did you become interested in pageants?

My brother inspires me, that's where my interest started. I look up to him. I am so proud of him especially when he ramps on the stage. Also, some of my friends are pushing me to join pageants too, but the major reason I join is that I want to make my parents proud. I am so thankful to God for giving me parents like them. (Smile emoticon)

How does it feel to represent Malasiqui, Pangasina in Mister United Continents Philippines 2016?

I am so proud to represent my hometown Malasiqui, Pangasinan in Mister United Continents Philippines, even though our municipality is not that big or known, this municipality plays a big role in what I am now. People here are so hospitable, kind, approachable and happy. The warm support of the people here motivates me to give my best foot forward as I compete in this prestigious pageant. I know I have God with me.

Give three adjectives that your friends would use to describe you.

My friends describe me as tall ,dark and handsome. (Laughs)

Tell us about one life-changing experience in your life.

One life changing experience in my life is when I lured in different places; Bangui Windmills, Batac, Ilocos, etc. I have worked for my relatives. I sell buko juice, peanuts, minerals, RTWs, a waiter in a small restaurant and a carrier of heavy loads. I did all these to earn money for a living and to support our studies. Because of these, I learned to be hardworking, efficient and productive. I am not shy to tell my story because I know that there's nothing to be ashamed about it. I'm proud of it!

Name three things that you would never do.

Three things that I would never do is to kill people, disrespect my parents and to have other God beyond our true loving God.

What do you like to do for fun?

I want family and relatives reunion. (smile emoticon)

Tell us a little bit about Malasiqui, Pangasinan. What makes your diffrent from other places?

Malasiqui is a great municipality for me I think the best thing that I observed in our town are the residents because people in our town are so generous and hospitable with their visitors and people here are happy persons because they can still smile even though they have problems.

How would you describe your advocacy to the judges?

My advocacy is about health education among all Filipinos. Proper information dissemination and implementations about health.  Because a healthy community as well as healthy individuals – is a key both to the thinking behind the Healthy Cities/Healthy Communities concept, and to actually developing healthy communities. It calls for a commitment on the part of all sectors of the community, particularly the government.

Boxers or Briefs?

I'm more comfortable with boxers but i can wear brief if really necessary.

Blue or Pink?

Both, because I like blue and pink is the color for love of God.

Piolo Pascual or Derek Ramsay?

Both, they very good actors.

Angel Locsin or Anne Curtis?

Angel because she looks angelic and simple.

Message to your supporters, friends and family.

I thank everyone for supporting me in this prestigious pageant. I will do my very best to be the next Mister United Continents Philippines.

TPQ Exclusive: Getting to know Francis Don Camson, Mister United Continents Philippines - Filipino Community of Italy

The Philippines has lot of handsome men who wanted to give pride and honor to our country. One of them is Francis Camson, of the Filipino Community of Italy. Let's get to know more about Franc as he venture to Mister United Continents Philippines 2016.

Read: Mister United Continents Philippines Final Screening

"The man who has no imagination has no wings"-M. Ali

Tell us a little about yourself, your family background, education.

I am 19 years old and still studying, taking up Hotel Restaurant Management and in my final year. Born and raised in Rome. I'm thankful to my Mom and Dad, I can speak fluent Tagalog. Four years ago, my Dad suffered from a mild stroke, till now he still undergoes therapy sessions, so, I'm like the "Padre de Familia" of my Mom and brother.

How did you become interested in pageants?

It all started 3 years ago, with my height and looks I guess, I attract people.. Haha there's a local pageant here in Rome that wants me to participate. Last year my manager (Cristian de Guzman) convinced me to participate well not only with him, but all of my friends tried to push me to join. Then I started watching pageants on the internet, tried catwalking, tried picturing myself on the stage, so I started to get interested in this thing.

How does it feel to represent the Filipino Community of Italy in Mister United Continents Philippines 2016?

It's very flattering to be the representative of the Filipino Community of Italy. But also nakakakaba ( the pressure is there). (Laughs)

Give three adjectives that your friends would use to describe you.

Good Looking, Loving and Unique

Tell us about one life-changing experience in your life.

As I said earlier, when my Dad suffered from a stroke that almost killed him, he has been through 3 brain surgeries, so it's a miracle being with him for us now. As an older sibling for my brother and standing as a father of my family and all the things my Dad has been through made me so responsible and mature. Like on weekdays I prefer being at home with my family than to go gimmick with my friends. School, work, home, school, work, home is the usual things I have been doing.

Name three things that you would never do.

Drugs, not to help my family and not to exchange the love that I recieve.

What do you like to do for fun?

Travel.

What would constitute a "perfect" evening for you?

Movies and popcorns with your loved ones (smile emoticon)

Tell us a little bit about the place that you are representing. What makes it different from most of the provinces, city or other Filipino Communities?

Being here in Rome is very unique than any other places, it offers you a piece of history. Filipinos here are very gentle and nice, they are always there to help their fellow Filipino and I think this is what makes the Filipino community here in Rome different to others.

How will you motivate others to practice sustainable living choices?

I would like to share to them a story of an overweight teenager who chose to change his lifestyle and it also changed his life (smile emoticon).

How would you describe your advocacy to the judges?

"1 apple away, takes all the doctors away" I'd share with them how I was years back, how I changed myself and how it changed my life.

Why do you want to be Mister United Continents Philippines 2016?

I want to help all of the people, with my advocacy I would like to explain to them that every struggle, there's a way, that every drop of your sweat, there's something to wipe it, that every bad time there will be good ones, that suffer now and live your life tomorrow. I would like to help people to live their life with happiness.

Boxers or Briefs?

Boxers, it's very comfortable

Blue or Pink?

Blue, its cute.

Piolo Pascual or Derek Ramsay?

Piolo, many people here call me Piolo with my mole in the left side of the forhead.

Anne Curtis or Angel Locsin?

Angel, shes a very good actress.

Message to your supporters, friends and family?

I would like to thank you for the support, always remember that without you guys I wont be here and I wont make this big step of my life.

Thank you Francis and we wish you the best of luck as you compete in Mister United Continents Philippines 2016!

Winning the local tilt is his goal for him to compete on an international stage. But competing against new faces doesn't guarantee his advantage. Well, who knows he is more confident and relax this time.

Miss World Zimbabwe search begins

"All contestants from our previous editions or anyone who got into boot camp last year is not welcome, especially those who walked on the ramp on the finale. We want to give new faces a chance."

Annie Grace Mutambu

Harare auditions for Miss World Zimbabwe starts today until Saturday and from February 25-27 at the Miss Zimbabwe Trust head offices in Highlands.

Running under the theme "Celebrating the life of our Icon Kiki Divaris", the finale will be on April 16 at the Borrowdale Brooke Golf Course where reigning queen Annie-Grace Mutambu will crown her successor.

Contestants who have nude photos or sex tapes are not allowed to join. Past two winners of the Miss World Zimbabwe contest had to step down when their nude photos and videos surfaced all over the internet. Contestants had to sign a declaration that they had never posed for nudes. And this is also the reason why the organisers look for new faces and will not allow previous contestants and anyone who walked the runway to join the contest. They want to give chance to others.

Bb. Pilipinas 2016: The Road to the Crown

By: En Nepomuceno

Last year we saw the Philippines proving to be called a beauty pageant powerhouse, having won 2 crowns under Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc., the Miss Universe and Miss Globe.

Miss Globe crown courtesy of Bb. Pilipinas Tourism Queen International Anne Colis. Apart from Miss Globe, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental Christi Lynn McGarry landed as first runner-up at the Miss Intercontinental 2015 pageant. Bb. Pilipinas International Janicel Lubina also landed a spot in the semifinals at the 2015 Miss International pageant and won the Best Dresser Award. While Bb. Pilipinas Supranational Rogelie Catacutan made it as semifinalist at the 2015 Miss Supranational. But of course who would ever forget that Bb. Pilipinas Universe Pia Wurtzbach brought home the crown of the most prestigious Miss Universe pageant after being named as first runner-up to Miss Colombia by the host Steve Harvey. Pia is the 3rd filipina to bring the Miss Universe crown after Margie Moran (1973) and Gloria Diaz (1969).

Indeed, the Bb. Pilipinas 2015 batch reaped the fruits of their endeavour.

This year, the reigning queens were at the screening of this year's crop of hopeful who joined the search for  Bb. Pilipinas 2016. After months of accepting applications from girls all over the country, the globe I must say, since there were girls from different parts of the globe who have Filipino roots who also joined the search. 88 lovely ladies underwent the toughest screening yesterday held at the Novotel Hotel Cubao, Quezon City headed by BPCI Chair. Stella Marquez Araneta.

Some of the noticeable ladies who made it to the list of official candidates are; Bb. Pilipinas 2015 semifinalist Kylie Versoza, Bb. Pilipinas 2010 candidate Mariella Castillo, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 candidate Jeslyn Santos, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 candidate Angelique Celine De Leon, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 candidate Leonalyn Dela Cruz, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 semifinalist Nichole Manalo and Bb. Pilipinas 2015 candidate Paul Rich Bartolome.

Also, first time joiners who you would never ignore made it to the list of official candidates; Maria Gigante, Kim Delos Santos, Nichole Cordoves, Dindi Pajares, Tatiana Maher, Kristine Estoque, Miss Heritage 1st runner-up Daziella Gange, Miss Charity Queen International finalist Ysh Ramos to name a few.

We'll see more of these ladies in the coming days.

Miss World 2000, Priyanka Chopra Oscar Presenter

Priyanka Chopra will present an award at the 2016 Oscars. She continues to rule the international showbiz.

It was announced that the beauty queen-actress  will be presenting an award at the prestigious Academy Awards and her Twitter feed has been buzzing non-stop.

“I am definitely excited. There are such few presenters and to be able to share the same stage with them within six months of my being here, feels amazing. It’s great to be counted among my peers, the Academy Awards is the highest honour in America so I am excited to be a part of it” Chopra said.

Her American television debut series Quantico seems to have put beauty queen - actress Priyanka Chopra’s career on an upswing in the west. Quantico opened a lot of doors for her in Hollywood. “When I first started out in India, people slowly started liking my work. Similarly, I am glad that my work in Quantico is being appreciated and recognised. I do feel a lot has happened too soon but I am not overwhelmed with the entire thing because I am trained from one of the best industries in the world.
