Sirey Moran, Miss Universe Honduras stripped of her crown

Miss Universe Honduras 2016, Sirey Moran

"Being able to compete for Miss Universe has always been a dream of mine. Representing the country of Honduras is such an honor and something I take very seriously, I have been able to meet and listen to so many different members of the community of Honduras it is incredibly rewarding. Being able to share my time and meet everyone is so special for them and me. It's very unfortunate this has happened and the support I am getting from the community is truly amazing. I hope to be able to compete for Miss Universe and represent my home country of Honduras," Miss Universe Honduras Sirey Moran said.

Her dream of competing  at the the 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant which will be held in Manila, Philippines on the 30th of January 2017 will no longer happen. She was stripped of her title earlier this week, after she was crowned Miss Universe Honduras on November 20, 2015.

Carlos Rivera, the National Director of MISS Universe Honduras who heads the Carimaxx organization issued a statement that Moran didn’t comply with her contract. After the announcement of Moran’s dethronement things got messed up.

Moran fired back and accused Rivera of hitting her, posting an audio recording where she can be heard saying “this man hit me.” She also issued a statement to E! News: "It is very unfortunate this has happened and I am very disappointed and hurt, violence is never the answer. I am working with proper authorities here in the United States and Honduras and I am confident in how they are handling this situation for me." But Rivera denied the allegations, "I never hit her. That is my truth." When he was asked if Morán was officially out of the pageant he said, "Yes. I am the owner of this show, and if I say she isn't going, she isn't going. I no longer want to work with her and Sirey knows that very well."

"She would go to many events without discussing them with us. She would also participate in photo shoots for magazines without our authorization. She would do whatever she wanted. I would always tell her, 'You don't do this, we have to protect your image.' She didn't obey the contract's clause. She thinks she's in charge of this organization, but that's not the way it is," Rivera added.
