South Africa wins Miss Universe after 39 years.

A total of 92 women from around the globe competed at the 66th edition of the Miss Universe pageant but only one of them walk away wearing the Miss Universe crown.

22-year-old Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters wowed not only the judges during the live telecast of the Miss Universe pageant but the whole viewers with her wit, charm, and beauty. Peters was crowned Miss Universe 2017 by France's Iris Mittenaere the reigning Miss Universe at The Axis at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday night ET.

Demi who just earned her degree in Business Management at North West University after making history at her high school for holding two leadership positions was kidnapped before heading to the Miss Universe competition.

Demi is South Africa's second Miss Universe since 1978 win Margaret Gardiner won the very first Miss Universe crown for South Africa.

During the final question, host Steve Harvey asked, "What qualitu in yourself are you most proud of and how will you apply that quality to your time as Miss Universe?"

Demi responded, "As Miss Universe you have to be confident in who you are as an individual. And Miss Universe is a woman that has overcome many fears and by that she is able to help other women to overconme their fears. She is a woman that nothing is ever too much to ask for and I think that is exactly who I am."

Earning the first and second runners up were the representatives from Colombia and Jamaica, respectively.

Completing the final five finalists were, Venezuela and Thailand.

While the rest of the top 10 were,USA, Philippines, Canada, Spain and Brazil.

And completing the 16 semi finalists were, China, Croatia, Ghana, Great Britain, Ireland and Sri Lanka.

Miss Universe 2017 judges included Ross Mathews, Lele Pons, Jay Manuel, Megan Olivi, Pia Wurtzbach and Wendy Fitzwilliam.

Miss World 2017: Live Stream

Miss World 2017 grand finale will start in a few hours. The 67th edition of the Miss World pageant will be held at Sanya City Arena, China, and about 120 contestants are participating this year. The annual event will see Miss World 2016 winner Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle crown the new queen.
