Miss Universe 2018 Pre-arrival Power Rankings

With at least over a week, the Miss Universe 2018 contestants will be arriving at the host country – Thailand, thus, we can't be more excited to present our pre-arrival power rankings.

Leading our first power ranking is the most talked-about and the controversial delegate for this year's pageant , Angela Ponce from Spain who made history for being the first trans woman to join the Miss Universe contest. Angela has received a lot of criticisms after winning the Miss Universe Spain pageant. Her eligibility to join the international contest for natural-born woman has been questioned. However, her being the talk of the town had surely captured the attention of the MUO thus, we believe she's being eyed for the crown.

Lagging behind is Puerto Rico's Kiara Ortega. 25 year-old Kiara works for an organization named Centro Inés which provides different educational and recreational  services for children and seniors to help develop a sense of independence, creativity and mastery…

Miss World 2018 First Power Rankings

Miss World 2018 will be the 68th edition of the Miss World pageant which will take place in Sanya, China on 8 December 2018. Manushi Chhillar of India will crown her successor at the end of the event. 119 contestants from all over the world will compete for the crown.

This year marks the 68th edition of the Miss World pageant. Last year, India had their sixth Miss World crown since its inception. It's this time that we have to present our first power rankings.

New set of winners to represent Mr. and Miss Philippine Islands

Shannon Kerver from Cabiao, Nueva Ecija and Wilson Yalung of Silang, Cavite were adjudged as Mr. and Miss Philippine Islands 2018 during the second edition of the Miss Philippine Islands 2018.


Princess Pusing of Masbate City and Aaron Esmenda of Camarines Norte were named as Mr. and Miss Philippine Islands - Luzon, respectively.

Nellay Pasahol of Batangas and AJ Rumbaua of Nueva Vizcaya are the Mr. and Miss Philippine Islands - Visayas.

Katherine Costan of Bacolod is Miss Philippine Islands - Mindanao  while Jemm Verano of Indang Cavite is Mr. Philippine Islands - Mindanao

To complete the set of winners, Miss Teen Philippine Islands is Jenevic Cariño of San Mateo, Rizal while Christian Jay Maniego of Makati City is Mr.Teen Philippine Islands

Miss Universe 1995 dies at 45

Miss Universe 1995, Chelsi Smith passed away at 45 due to cancer.

Smith became the first African-American to win the Miss Texas, USA crown. She was also, Miss Gavelston 1994.


She represented the state of Texas at the Miss USA1995 pageany won the crown. The same year, she was also crowned Miss Universe.

Cebuana teen ventures for another national crown

Kylah Kristianne Yve Sanchez is probably one of the youngest candidates at the age of 18 in this year's Miss World Philippines. She was crowned Miss Hannah’s Tourism Ambassador 2018 in May.


Kyla represented Liloan, Cebu in Mr & Miss Hannah’s World Tourism Philippines 2018. She was Miss Tabogon in Binibining Cebu 2017 pageant. On top of that, she also held  few crowns under her belt; Miss Tabogon 2017, Miss Kalunasan 2017, Miss Yati 2017 (Liloan).

This Cebuana teen loves to play guitar and a hardworking athlete – a volleyball varsity player and a skim boarding fanatic.

Celebrity star to compete for the World

Before showing herself as an aspirant of the Miss World Philippines 2018, she joined first TV 5's Artista Academy in 2012. She made her acting debut in Wattpad Presents (2014). She also appeared in other networks for Ipaglaban mo (2014), FPJ's Ang Probinsyano and a movie under Regal Films, The Debutantes (2017).

Chanel Morales is also a model and a digital influencer gracing the cover of publications like Chalk and Sense & Style.


"I also wanted to be the voice to other girls that no matter where you are from and who you are as long as you believe in yourself, you can attain anything in life", she said in her Rappler interview.

Masbateñas vie for National crowns

Three cowgirls are trying their luck in national pageants.

There are a few lucky Masbateñas who previously joined a national pageants and brought pride and honor to the Province of Masbate. Bea Rose Santiago even won an international crown for the Philippines.

Maria Romelda Dela Este Villanueva who is vying for the Miss Philippine Islands 2018 crown comes from the Municipality of Mandaon. Century Superbod winner battles for Miss World Philippines 2018

Maureen Montagne will try her luck in winning a crown in the Philippine pageantry again and represent the Philippines internationally. Her first foray in the Philippine pageantry was in 2013 where she emerged as first runner-up of Mutya ng Pilipinas.

She was Miss USA 2015 semi-finalist, America’s Miss World 2017 first runner-up where she represented the state of Arizona in both pageants. She was also declared as Century Superbod 2018 winner. This Fil-Am is very vocal of her Filipino roots eveytime she is joining a pageant.


Montagne is one of the familiar faces in this year's Miss Word Philippines pageant where she's going to compete with 39 other contestants.

Igorota Queen's vying for the World

A 22 year-old Communication graduate from the University of Baguio hopes to be Miss World Philippines 2018.


Joemay Leo, an Igorota Queen from Tuba, Benguet made it to the official list of candidates of  this year's Miss World Philippines.

Leo doesn't have the drive in joining pageants when she was  younger not until she was chosen  to represent the high school department  for Miss University of Baguio 2011 which she later won. At 15, she had her first crown and the passion to join pageants was born where she reaped; Miss Tuba 2014, Miss Benguet 2014 first runner-up, Miss Baguio 2015 third runner-up and Miss Cordillera 2016.


She was an active student leader when she was still studying. In fact, she was awarded AY Foundation National Discipline awardee, JCI Youth Leadership Excellence awardee, Gerry Roxas Leadership awardee. Currently, she is serving as an SK Kagawad of her barangay.

Celebrity daughter tries her luck to win Miss World Philippines 2018 crown

Alyssa Muhlach draws much attention when her photos got posted in different social media platforms during the Miss World Philippines 2018 screening. Well, she's a daughter of Almira Muhlach and PBA player, Bong Alvarez.

Is that all she got? Definitely not! Prior to joining MWP 2018, she made a name for herself as a singer. She had albums under Viva Records where she received Gold Record awards and was also nominated at the 3rd PMPC Star Award for Music for two categories; Female Acoustic Artist of the Year and New Female Recording Artist of the Year and another nomination at the 6th PMPC Star Awards for Music for her self entitled album "Yssa Muhlach".



This 22 year-old lass trained by a top notch pageant camp - KF will certainly level up and bring you more than what she got to win a crown.

A UP Professor eyes to be Miss World Philippines 2018

If it's a battle of wit and credentials, Jerelleen Rodriguez will easily snatch the main crown or any of the titles.

She will surely leave you at awe with what she has to offer. This lass from Nasugbu, Batangas is a Cum laude graduate with a degree in BS Business Administration and Accountancy from the UP Diliman and a Certified Public Accountant who placed sixth in the October 2013 CPA board licensure examination. She is also a Professor at the University of the Philippines - Diliman for the Department of Accounting and Finance while studying law at the UP College of Law.



Aside from all of these, she is also a member of the National Union of People’s Lawyers, a Chief Finance Officer, MGC Holdings, Inc., an angel investment hub and an education advocate.


Aren't these enough for her to win any of the crowns?

She only has not the gift of gab and wit but of beauty as well.

Licensed Vet joins Miss World Philippines 2018

Miss Manila 2017, Maria Gail Devora Tobes is not new to joining pageants as she started joining beauty pageant six years ago.

Recently, she screened for the Miss World Philippines 2018 and made it to the official list of candidates.



The 23-year-old Licensed Veterinarian who graduated Cum Laude at the University of Eastern Philippines was a Bb. Pilipinas 2017 contestant and former Miss Northern Samar 2012 has shown her dedication and passion in the world of pageantry which will help her to take home one of the crowns.

Quick Fact Check: Who is Barmae Aica Chua

Barmae has also a lot of achievements in the pageantry world. She was Teen Ambassador of the Earth 2014 – Eco Tourism, Miss Campus Role Model Philippines 2015, Juicy Cologne Ambassador of Goodness 2016 and Miss Masbate Pagdayao Festival 2017.


She finished her Mass Communication major in Communication Arts at St. Paul University Manila. She's also a flight attendant trainee at PAL Express  and graduated as the batch Salutatorian this year.



Aside from these, she's also doing commercial modelling and an advocate of Mother Earth’s conservation.

Former Miss Cebu competes in Miss World - Philippines 2018

Neesha Namrata Murjani, 25, is Miss Cebu 2013. In 2015, she also joined Bb. Pilipinas pageant.


She is a BS Biology graduate at Cebu Doctors University and a Cebuana of Indian descent with a hint of Spanish blood.


Neesha will try her luck again in a national pageant.  For sure she's going to give her best shot in clinching one of the titles and represent the Philippines in an international stage.

Kim De Guzman was crowned Miss Philippines Earth-Air 2017 and as soon as she ended her reign, she embarks on another journey.

Kim screened and qualified as an official candidate for the Miss World Philippines 2018 pageant and is being trained by one of the top notch beauty pageant camps in the Philippines -  Aces and Queens.


She was also dubbed as the “Stunning Sweetheart ng Olongapo” in 2011 when she joined the PBB where she was forced evicted.

She might not have a very successful showbiz career, but she has shown success in the pageant industry.

After winning Miss Philippines Earth-Air, will she reap the Miss World Philippines crown or any other crown?

26-year old Arienne was born in California, USA, but have lived around the world, including Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and USA.


She isn't a novice in the world of pageantry having won several titles under her belt; Miss Asian California; Binibining Pilipinas USA 1st Runner up; Miss District of Columbia Finalist; Miss Sta.Clara 1st Runner up; Miss California’s Outstanding Teen Finalist. These titles are prior to her winning Miss World Philippines 2016 first runner-up.

 Arienne had been an Arabic Instructor, Education USA Ambassador, International Cooperation Assistant for the Kingdom of Thailand, and a transcriber of a Torah studies for an internationally known Jewish rabbi, Rabbi Michael Lerner.
