Paula Shugart Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award

MUO President, Paula Shugart was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at The Global Beauty Awards.


"Many of our titleholders' have achieved their goals after their reign as Public Speakers, Influencers, Philanthropists, Models, Actresses, and so on."

The Lifetime Achievement Award honors someone who brings value to peers, business and/or professional industries globally. The honoree promotes and gives back to the pageant community.

"The Global Beauty Awards aims to bring awareness to the pageant community and highlight the excellence of those involved. Exterior beauty has often been the focal point, but those involved can tell you first hand that pageantry is one of the greatest experiences for building confidence, speaking abilities, and learning how to properly network in professional settings. Mayra Matos, Miss Universe Puerto Rico Reacts to Miss Venezuela Scandal

Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2009 Mayro Matos, reacted about the bad side of beauty pageants. Matos, Miss Universe 2009 fourth runner-up, was interviewed by the Primera Hora and reacted to Miss Venezuela's scandal about prostitution and corruption.

She said that she knows the world of sexual favors and she lived with it and that the cost of refusing to get involved can cause six years of depression. She calls them "Queen Hunters". "When you’re going to compete, the most vulnerable girls decide to accept the offers to get the dress that they can’t buy for the competition, " she added.


Her reactions come during the scandal that surrounds Miss Venezuela's scandal. The organization behind the country’s beauty pageant has decided to suspend everything while it carries out an internal investigation. The decision comes after the claims of prostitution and corruption.

Miss Venezuela Pageant Suspended Amid Prostitution and Corruption Scandal

The organization behind Miss Venezuela’s iconic beauty pageant is under investigation for possible misconduct of its contestants following claims of prostitution and corruption throughout the organization.
Former Miss Venezuela contestants, posted on social media insinuating other contestants had romantic relationships with corrupt businessmen and officials.
"Given the events recently described on social media ... a decision has been made to begin an internal review to determine if anyone linked (to the pageant), during the course of their involvement, violated the values and ethics of the contest," the Miss Venezuela Organization said in a statement.
Miss Venezuela is owned by the wealthy Venezuelan Cisneros family. Catriona Gray from the World to Universe

Bb. Pilipinas 2018 pageant was held on March 18, 2018 at The Big Dome, Cubao, Quezon City. Unsurprisingly, Catriona Gray, an early favorite was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2018.

A 24-year-old television host, singer, and model, Catriona Gray is the first Filipina to win both the Miss World Philippines and Miss Universe Philippines crowns. She will also be the first woman to compete in these two oldest pageants.

There was Michelle McLean of Namibia who finished fourth runner-up at Miss World 1991 pageant but was crowned Miss Universe a year after. Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana who was unplaced during the Miss World 1997 pageant but made history as the first back to back victory of ebony beauties in Miss Universe 1999.

Shreveport, Louisiana will Host Miss USA 2018

Miss USA 2018 pageant will be on May 21, 2018 at The Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport-Bossier,  Louisiana.

Shreveport hosted the Miss USA pageant in 1997 and 1998. It also hosted the Miss Teen USA pageant in 1998, 1999, and 2000.

This year's hosts include Vanessa and Nick Lachey.


The two-hour special will conclude with the reigning Miss USA 2017 Kára McCullough crowning her successor. Women representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia will compete for the opportunity of becoming the next Miss USA.


20 years ago, Shawnae Jebbia from Massachusetts was crowned Miss USA 1998 in 
Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana.

Catriona Gray wins Miss Universe Philippines 2018

Catriona Gray, a 24-year-old singer-model was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2018 on March 18, 2018 at the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 Coronation Night held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

She bested 39 other contestants to win the top plum. She also had the lion's share of awards winning Best in Swimsuit, Best in Long Gown, Best in National Costume, JAG Denim Queen, and Miss Ever Bilena.

Gray will be representing the Philiplines in the 67th edition of the Miss Universe pageant. 


While Ahtisa Manalo, a 20-year old lass from Candelaria, Quezon was crowned Bb. Pilipinas International 2018. She will represent the Philippines in the Japan-based pageant, Miss International. 

A law student from Cebu, Eva Psychee Patalinjug was crowned Bb. Pilipinas Grand International. Eva will represent and continue the winning streak of the Philippines in the Thailand-based pageant in its 6th edition.

Bb. Pilipinas 2018: The Crown Contenders and Runners -Up

This year's Bb. Pilipinas pageant has one of the stongest candidates and it won't be a surprise if the major front-runners will be crowned on Sunday, March 18, 2018. 

The pressure will surely be on to continue the winning streak of the Philippines internationally especially in Miss Universe. Who are the rightful crown contenders and have the chance to win internationally?

These ladies could potentially win a crown but the competition is reallytough nowadays. They deserve to be recognized. Who knows anyone of these ladies could pull off a surprise win.

Inspirational: From Bilbilin to Binibini

The Bb. Pilipinas 2018 grand coronation night is on March 18, 2018 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City.

Few more days to crowning the new Bb. Pilipinas queens, Rosantonette Mendoza, Bb. 18 become the "Most Inspirational" binibini when she shared her journey to winning a Bb. Pilipinas crown and how she lost almost 200 pounds.

“I’ve been joining beauty pageants since I was 15 and the first title that I had was Mutya ng Bacoor in 2007. Beauty pageants made me feel good about myself. It became a venue for self-expression and women empowerment. I was able to connect with other people and inspire them with my life experiences."

“Come 2013, I went on with my beauty queen dreams and joined a provincial pageant. Then came my worst nightmare – I was bashed in social media because I was too ‘fat’ to be a beauty queen. Comments like, “hala, parang nanay na,” “ano ba yan, bat may naligaw jan,” and the likes. I have to admit, it almost ruined me,” she stated.

The girls of this year's Bb. Pilipinas pageant sets the bar really high for the next years. Almost all of the forty gorgeous candidates are ready to compete internationally.

Although I met and knew some of them, I still haven't got the chance to closely see them in person during pageant activities. This post is solely intended for the girls who shown elegance and queenly attitude in the Bb. Pilipinas glamorous headshot photos and this does not reflect the bets of The Pageant Queens as a whole.

Trimming the forty ladies to just 10 was a hard thing to do, but for me, I have chosen the girls whom I believe have the best  headshot photos.

Sonia Fergina wins Puteri Indonesia 2018

Sonia Fergina, 25, who represented Bangka Belitung was crowned Puteri Indonesia 2018 defeating 38 other contestants during the finals night held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Jakarta Convention Centre.

Sonia is 5'10 in height and is an independent woman who is open minded and super friendly in nature will represent Indonesia at the 2018 Miss Universe pageant.


While Vania Fitryanti of Banten province bagged the Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2018 crown. Vania was crowned by the reigning Miss International 2017 Kevin Lilliana of Indonesia. She will represent Indonesia at the Miss International 2018 pageant in Tokyo, Japan later this year.

Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2018 went to Wilda Octaviana Situngkir of Kalimantan Barat province. Wilda will represent Indonesia at the Miss Supranational 2018 pageant later this year.
