Miss USA 2018 Favorites

Fifty one gorgeous ladies representing the 50 states and the District of Columbia will battle it all out to win the coveted Miss USA 2018 crown  in Shreveport, Louisiana and represent the country in Miss Universe 2018 pageant. The winner will be crowned by outgoing Miss USA 2017 Kára McCullough of District of Columbia.


After following the pre-pageant events and watching them on stage walked with class, elegance, and sophistication during the preliminary competition, I came up with this fun game list on mind. Presenting my Top 16 list with their biographies.

1.Massachussetts - Allissa Latham




She is a 26-year-old who currently resides in Lowell, Massachusetts. She works at Lowell General Hospital as an Integration Architect for Cerner Corporation, a Health Information Technology company. She is also actively pursuing her MBA with a concentration in Health Care from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. In her spare time, she volunteers at local homeless shelters, crochets, and receives mentoring from the American College of Healthcare Executives mentorship program. Allissa looks forward to using the Miss USA platform to shine light on issues such as financial literacy, gaps in healthcare, and funding programs for at-risk youth.

2.California - Kelley Johnson




She is a 25-year-old and stand 6'2 who is an Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse having graduated Valedictorian at Grand View University. Kelley is a full-time Doctoral student and will graduate as a Family Nurse Practitioner next year. Over the past two years, Kelley has given more than sixty-five professional keynote speeches across the country to audiences reaching nine thousand people. She also spends her time in California as a Brand Ambassador and National Spokeswoman for two nursing companies. In her spare time, you can find her playing with her bulldogs, cooking or learning to surf.


3.District of Columbia - Bryce Armstrong




Bryce Armstrong is a young entrepreneur who turned her love of baking into a self-owned business. Her business entails baking and decorating cakes and sweets for special events throughout Washington, D.C. and the East Coast. Bryce is passionate about helping others develop the skills to become their own boss. When she isn't baking, Bryce can be found traveling by plane or ship, spending time with her family, watching the Ellen DeGeneres show or volunteering for SOME (So Others Might Eat), an organization that tackles the homeless issue in D.C. She describes herself as an ambitious, passionate, and creative person. Bryce is hoping to make history at this year's Miss USA competition by becoming the third contestant crowned from D.C. three years in a row.

4.Oklahoma - Cheyene Darling




She is working towards completing her degree in Strategic Communications with the hopes to establish her career in the sports or entertainment industry. Growing up, she endured bullying that led to a severe lack of confidence throughout her childhood that she has since overcome. Now Cheyene continues to use her experience to relate and empower children and young adults to have faith in their success. She's always had a passion for being a positive role model for her younger sister, but now has taken on this role for women of all ages through her title. Cheyene values physical health from her competitive dance background, and continues her fitness routine through yoga and Pilates. She plans to raise awareness on the importance of Education and wants to help schools and teachers with providing the proper resources, expanding after-school programs and funding.

5.Tennessee - Alexandra Harper




Alexandra Harper is a 25-year-old entrepreneur from Nashville, Tennessee. Since graduating college in 2015, she has kept herself busy as a writer, business owner, a personal stylist, a sales executive and a social media managerÑ all at the same time! She loves cooking and experimenting with online coding and website design. Alexandra is active in her community by serving as an ambassador for Second Harvest Food Bank in Middle Tennessee. She also filmed, directed and edited a short documentary for a new non-profit called ÒHealing HousingÓ, a transitional living home for women in recovery from addiction that offers counseling, financial training and weekly Bible Studies. She fell in love with the women she worked with and is now heavily involved with the program.

Florida - Genesis Davila




Genesis Davila spent almost a year in disaster relief efforts before she found her calling to pursue a graduate degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership. Combining her practical field experience with graduate education, Genesis would like to utilize her degree to leverage herself as the leader of her nonprofit organization specializing in providing primary needs to those affected by natural disasters. Genesis' most significant achievements include organizing more than twelve humanitarian flights and bringing primary care from Florida to the Caribbean region during the recent 2017 hurricane season.

Washington - Abigail Hill




Since the age of 9, Abigail Hill has dreamed of competing in Miss USA. During her growth in pageantry, she has created her own platform called #W82TXT, reaching untold numbers of viewers and gathering over 1,000 signed pledges to stop texting while driving. Alongside of this platform, Hill donates her time and efforts to various disaster-relief organizations, specifically those targeting families with children, as she firmly believes that today's youth are the future. Outside of volunteering, Abigail enjoys modeling, exercising, trap shooting and singing.

New York - Genesis Camilla Suero




Genesis Camilla Suero is an example of the American Dream. Born in the Dominican Republic, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 13 and became an American citizen at the age of 21. She has worked two jobs in the United States since the age of 15, while attending school to provide financially for herself and her mother, who was living in the Dominican Republic. She graduated high school in three years to allow herself time for a full time job. Two years ago she was able to provide financial stability to her mother for her to join Genesis in the United States. She is pursuing her Real Estate license and hopes to create a Real Estate Firm to allow job opportunities and support to immigrants. In her spare time she enjoys participating in marathons, such as the TCS NYC marathon, and working with NYRR to encourage others to live a healthy lifestyle. Being crowned Miss New York USA was a major accomplishment for Genesis, one she had dreamed about for many years. She will use her title to encourage immigrants across the United States to work hard to succeed in the land of opportunity.

Arkansas - Lauren Weaver




Lauren Weaver is the daughter of an eight-year breast cancer survivor who is actively involved with Susan G. Komen of Arkansas. Her motherÕs diagnosis at a young age is the driving force behind her passion to spread awareness and educate young women on the importance of early detection. After earning DeanÕs and ChancellorÕs List each year, Lauren will be a first generation college graduate from the University of Arkansas this May with a BachelorÕs degree in Business Marketing. After Lauren's parents remarried, she gained six siblings extending from 1-year-old all the way to 22-years-old - making them the modern day ÒBrady BunchÓ.

South Carolina - Tori Sizemore




Tori Sizemore, a 22-year-old native of Anderson, SC is the oldest of 7 children and a lifelong equestrian. As a recent graduate of Anderson University, Tori utilizes her BA in Communications and Marketing as a television and radio spokesmodel for companies across her state. This fall, she will pursue her master's degree in marketing, with the goal of becoming a specialist in small business development. Tori's passion for foster children and adoption was ignited by her family's experience of adopting 3 biracial foster girls and witnessing the transformative power of a forever family in their lives. She has shared her family's adoption testimony since the age of 16, working with numerous organizations in South Carolina to increase awareness, raise money, and create media campaigns to benefit the foster care community.

Maryland - Brittinay Nicolette




Brittinay Nicolette is a Transplant Coordinator for the Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland, facilitating organ recoveries for the purpose of life saving organ transplants. She is an advocate for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Awareness. After experiencing sexual assault and dating abuse first hand, she has made it her mission to spread awareness through sharing her story. Brittinay feels the best word to describe her is spirited. If crowned Miss USA 2018, she plans to spend her year advocating for Americans to save lives by registering to become Organ, Eye, and Tissue donors.

Georgia - Marianny Egurrola




Marianny Egurrola was born in Colombia where she lived until she was 15 years old. She moved to the United States in 2007 and attended the University of Georgia where she obtained her degree in International Affairs. She is an international actress and model and also created her own organization, Seas of Smiles. She works with people of all races, cultures and backgrounds and focuses on personal growth, community service, and well-being for all. Marianny is very passionate about helping others build their self-esteem and confidence and has realized that being unique is her most powerful tool.

Wisconsin - Regina Gray 



Regina Gray was born in Jackson, Mississippi but after relocating to the Midwest with her family, she proudly calls Milwaukee, Wisconsin home. She credits both her Southern and Midwestern upbringings for her appreciation of hospitality and hard work. Regina, an International Baccalaureate Scholar, was inducted into the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and studied both Communication and Mathematics in college. Losing her father prematurely to a massive heart attack encouraged Regina to begin working with the American Heart Association (AHA) to help spread heart health awareness in her community and since receiving the title of Miss Wisconsin USA she is now an AHA ambassador for her state. If she takes home the crown, Regina hopes to continue to advocate for heart health awareness and prevention on a nationwide level.

Mississippi - Laine Alden 




Laine Alden is a 21 year old from Tupelo, Mississippi. She is a student at The University of Mississippi where she is obtaining a degree in Integrated Marketing and Communications and plans to obtain her Law Degree to practice Family Law. Laine Alden is not new to pageantry as she has won the title of Most Beautiful at her high school and also Ole Miss Most Beautiful. She believes that true beauty is reflected from within, and this is a message she speaks of in her GEM platform, which stands for Going the Extra Mile. She is dedicated to helping young girls reach new heights in their confidence, health, and personal life goals. She hopes to further this platform as Miss USA and Miss Universe.

Kansas - Melanie Shaner 




Melanie Shaner was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas where she grew up in a small, close family. Melanie is a student at the University of Kansas pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communication. She is an advocate for victims of domestic violence and frequently volunteers for a local domestic violence shelter. In her free time, Melanie loves doing pilates and walking her two dogs. She is honored to represent her home state of Kansas at Miss USA, and would continue her advocacy for domestic violence awareness and prevention if she wins the crown.

Alabama - Hannah Brown 


Hannah Brown graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama with her bachelor's degree in Communication and Information Sciences. Upon graduation, she combined her communication skills with her passion for interior decor and currently works as an interior designer. After battling a childhood illness, suffering the loss of loved ones to homicide, coupled with suffering from anxiety and depression in college, Hannah is dedicated to starting an open conversation about the freedom to deal with mental health challenges and the importance of forgiveness. She seeks adventure and smiles at all times; Hannah truly takes advantage of opportunities to live life to its fullest.

Miss Venezuela Pageant Suspended Amid Prostitution and Corruption Scandal

The organization behind Miss Venezuela’s iconic beauty pageant is under investigation for possible misconduct of its contestants following claims of prostitution and corruption throughout the organization.
Former Miss Venezuela contestants, posted on social media insinuating other contestants had romantic relationships with corrupt businessmen and officials.
"Given the events recently described on social media ... a decision has been made to begin an internal review to determine if anyone linked (to the pageant), during the course of their involvement, violated the values and ethics of the contest," the Miss Venezuela Organization said in a statement.
Miss Venezuela is owned by the wealthy Venezuelan Cisneros family.
